A new co-operational agreement was signed between Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (India) and Irkutsk State Medical University (Russia)
There are two directions of international activity in Irkutsk State Medical University. First of all it is study of foreign students and also cooperation with foreign partners in the field of medical practice and academic and research activity. During last few years the amount of partners of Irkutsk State Medical University has considerably increased. In various fields the university collaborates with medical universities, academies, clinics, scientific laboratories of France, Germany, USA, Mongolia, Austria, China, Japan, Korea and India. Strong tie-ups were established with Medical faculty and hospital center of Joseph Fourier University (France), Medical faculty of Paris Descartes University (France), Koch-Metschnikow-Forum (Germany), Eurcasia Association (France), Alliance Française (France), Association of Mongolian graduates (Mongolia). Irkutsk State Medical University is a participant of Eurasian medical education program of American college of doctors (USA), partners with TheGerman Academic Exchange Service (Germany), Foundation of Russia-Japan medical exchanges (Japan), and is a member of Eurasia-Pacific Uninet (Austria).
New cooperation agreements were signed with Harbin medical university (China), Dentistry faculty of Gangneung-Wonju National University (Korea), Chair of psychiatry of Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, USA), Public Health Institute (Mongolia), NationalResearchCenter forInfectiousDiseases (Mongolia) and Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (India).
Early at the premises of Irkutsk State Medical University international conferences are held, which includes student conferences, symposia,
thematic advanced training with providing internationally standardised certificates. Teleconferences are held almost every month due to Lifesize Express 200 (system for multimedia communication), which was installed at the premises of Irkutsk State Medical University. Materials of those conferences are published in collection of articles on medical education and scientific research.
A priority area for cooperation is student exchange. Every year growing number of students of Irkutsk State Medical University as well as students from foreign universities is taking part in student exchange programs. Students of Irkutsk State Medical University have opportunity to do one year course at foreign universities of France, China, Mongolia, Korea and India.
Also every year medical residents do their one year internship at the premises of Grenoble I –Joseph Fourier University (France), getting grants from government of France.
There are also traineeship course, designed for the professional and teaching staff. For the recent 5 years more than 150 teachers of Irkutsk State Medical University and foreign universities-partners have been participating in exchange programs of giving lectures, taking part in scientific-research conferences and symposia, etc.
The optional course for studying foreign languages was organized for those who want to become a part of exchange programs.
The development of student exchange is one of the important directions of activity of the University as it contributes to integration into one international education environment.
